Emergency Truck Breakdown Help: What to Do and Who to Call

The All Roadside Assistance answer: Get the truck and yourself out of traffic first, then call the closest provider that comes to the truck. Mobile repair handles many roadside fixes. A tow is the fallback when the truck cannot be fixed where it sits.

First steps

  1. Pull as far off the road as you can and turn on the hazard lights.
  2. Set your warning triangles behind the truck as your safety rules require.
  3. Note the highway, direction, nearest exit or mile marker before you call.
  4. Call your fleet or dispatcher if you have one, then call a provider.

Why it happens

A breakdown call is about two things: safety and the right truck showing up. Mobile mechanics can often fix problems such as a failed sensor, a broken belt, a cracked air line or a dead battery at the roadside. Some problems need a shop, and then a heavy tow is the answer. Ask on the phone which one they think it is, based on what you describe.

What to tell the provider

Your exact location, the truck and trailer type, what happened just before the breakdown, warning lights or codes, and whether the truck is safe where it is.

How we pick the providers

All Roadside Assistance is a directory. We do not dispatch trucks or take a share of any job. On each town page we list providers whose listing data matches this problem, closest first, within 30 miles of the town center, or 50 miles when fewer than 3 are closer. You call the business directly. Confirm availability, capability and price on the phone.
