Reefer Unit Repair: What to Do and Who to Call
The All Roadside Assistance answer: A reefer that will not hold temperature puts the load at risk. Call a reefer service provider and tell them the unit make, the set point and the alarm codes.
First steps
- Read the alarm codes and the set point on the unit display.
- Check the reefer fuel level and the unit belts if it is safe.
- Call your dispatcher. The shipper or receiver may have temperature rules for the load.
- Write down the times and temperatures you see.
Why it happens
Reefer problems include fuel, belts, sensors, defrost and refrigerant leaks. Reefer units are serviced by dealers and independent reefer shops. This page lists only providers whose name or description mentions reefer or refrigeration work.
What to tell the provider
The unit make and model, the alarm codes, the set point and the current box temperature, what is in the trailer, and your location.
How we pick the providers
All Roadside Assistance is a directory. We do not dispatch trucks or take a share of any job. On each town page we list providers whose listing data matches this problem, closest first, within 30 miles of the town center, or 50 miles when fewer than 3 are closer. You call the business directly. Confirm availability, capability and price on the phone.
