Semi Truck AC Repair: What to Do and Who to Call

The All Roadside Assistance answer: A cab that will not cool is a comfort and a safety problem in summer heat. Call a truck repair shop or a mobile mechanic and ask whether they recharge and repair heavy truck A/C systems before they come out or you drive in.

First steps

  1. Check that the blower runs at every speed and listen for the compressor clutch.
  2. Look for a slipping or broken belt and for oily spots on the A/C lines.
  3. Note any warning lights and whether the engine is running hot.
  4. Do not keep driving if the engine temperature climbs.

Why it happens

Heavy truck A/C problems usually come down to low refrigerant from a leak, a failed compressor or clutch, a blocked condenser, a bad blower motor or an electrical fault. Not every shop works on A/C, so ask on the phone. Listings that mention A/C or climate work are marked on this page.

What to tell the provider

The truck make and model, whether air blows but is not cold or does not blow at all, any noise from the compressor, and whether you need roadside service or can drive to a shop.

How we pick the providers

All Roadside Assistance is a directory. We do not dispatch trucks or take a share of any job. On each town page we list providers whose listing data matches this problem, closest first, within 30 miles of the town center, or 50 miles when fewer than 3 are closer. You call the business directly. Confirm availability, capability and price on the phone.
